I had meant to get this review out A LOT sooner, as I received my Eclat de Nuit palette at the end of January.
But life happened and I’m just now getting around to this =P
There has been a lot of chatter about this collection, particularly the Elcat de Nuit palette from Chanel, and on their site is is sold out.
However, Chanel is highlighting this collection currently on their American site and there are still legitimate places where you can purchase this palette online if you really need to get you hand on this.
So I decided that I would do a very quick review on this for you guys as well as use this as an opportunity to talk about some Chanel Beauty news.

Where To Buy This Collection
This collection was very much hyped up here in the United States, as I believe we were the last mark to receive this collection.
With all that fanfair, the Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow quad apart of this collection sold out online fast. At the moment it is still sold out online and it doesn’t look like any of the major department stores received them for online either.
But there are a couple of ways that you can still get it if you truly wish.
If you wish to buy directly from Chanel, you can try visiting your local boutique as some of them still have some in stock.
If you’re like me and your nearest boutique is hours aways, you can always call Chanel and speak with a client advisor. They may be able to help you source one and have it shipped to you (This is where having an SA that you’re in contact with helps out a ton!)
If you have no luck that way, you can always visit BonBon Cosmetics.
For those of you who don’t know, BonBon Cosmetics is an online beauty retailer based in Hong Kong that specializes in sourcing Asian beauty products and making them available for shipping world wide.
BonBon Cosmetics is the only beauty retailer that I currently see offering the palette.
There is a mark up of about 25% on the products that they sell so keep that in mind. and their processing and shipping times can be slow. But I have used the company before, and if your heart is really set on this particular palette, this could be the option for you.
That said, with Chanel, highlighting the Les de Nuit collection their homepage when they just launched the mermaid inspired Spring 2024 collection–I think that they might just run Elcat de Nuit palette back.
So I would just keep my eye on the site.

The Les de Nuit Chanel collection is inspired by the classic smokey eye.
In fact, this collection is all about emphasize and drama for the eyes, creating alluring and mesmerizing looks.
This collection is also meant to feel adaptable, as it’s wearable for day time affairs but also transitions very well for a night time look.
Most of this collection is comprised familiar pieces from Chanel–enthusiast of the brand likely have many pieces in their beauty stash already.
The La Volume de Chanel and the La Base Mascaras, as well as several dark and smokey Stylo Yeux eyeliners are a part of this collection.
Chanel has also introduced two new Stylo Yeux eyeliners in the shades Beige Lumiere and Burnt Platine– both being more warm golden like tones.
All these pieces play well together to give you a classic, dramatic look.
But the clear star and focal point of the collection is the Eclat de Nuit Eyeshadow Palette
Eclat de Nuit Palette
Inspired by Gabrielle’s nights out on the town, this limited quad eyeshadow palette features a matte beige, sparking beige, a metallic khaki and a buildable black shade.
The Les 4 Ombres palettes are designed to used on their own easily and I do feel like this is the case here. The colors are cohesive enough that I don’t feel like I need to bring another palette with me to complete a look.
Once you get past the initial hard layer that I find the Les 4 Ombres have, this shadow feels fairly soft. this doesn’t feel as emollient like the Les Beige shadows, but they still feel nice.
I noticed a fair bit of fallout. It is not to worse that I’ve ever seen however, with this palette and other is the Les 4 Ombre line, I would recommend doing your foundation after your eyes to avoid getting shadow all over your foundation.
I personally don’t really care for the matte beige shade, as I feel like that doesn’t really show up on my skin. However the matte beige shade is a nice transition shade. I absolutely LOVE the sparkly beige shade and I feel like this is the highlight of this palette for me. It looks beautiful as a topper or by itself.
Despite my issues with the matte beige, all the shades blend out beautifully and wear very well throughout the day. Thought I do notice that if I apply too much of the sparkly beige, it will start to migrate over my face throughout the day.
In the past, fallout from eyeshadows have been an issue for me as a contact wearer. But I didn’t have this issue with this palette despite some fallout happing
While reading up about this palette, I noticed the Eclat de Nuit palette as well as the two new palettes from the Spring 2024 collection all have “Ophthalmologist-tested and suitable for contact lens wearers”,which is something that doesn’t appear on the older Les 4 Ombre eyeshadow platelets.
Is Chanel Phasing Out Les 4 Ombres Eyeshawdows?
Many folks have noticed that the older Les 4 Ombre eyeshadows listed on the Chanel site have all been changed to limited edition, leading some to believe that this product line is being phased out all together.
While I don’t think that Chanel is getting rid of their quads, I can say with 100% certainly that they have indeed changed their formula some time around their Byzance collection release.
Comparing this new formula to the older one, there is a lot more ooclusives, emollients, and humectants right at the top of the ingredient list with perfumes now being cut out.
I personally think this is a step in the right direction as eyes are a very sensitive organ. Even for those who don’t wear contacts, making the ingredients safer for eye health is good.
And with the higher amount of emollients and humectants, these shadows should feel better on the skin as well as be more bendable.
I only have 2 other Les 4 Ombre palettes that are from the old formula, so I can’t really say overall, but from my personal experience, I do feel like this new formula is a lot nicer than the older one. Thought I still don’t think they are as good as the Les Beige eyeshadows.
Was There A Price Increase on Chanel Beauty?
I mentioned in the Winter Les Beige collection blog that Chanel Beauty will likely see a price increase and it has indeed happened.
While the Les 4 Ombre quads have yet to increase in price, all the Les Beige eyeshadow pallets are now at $72.00USD, going up $2.00USD since I last checked January.
I took a look at the Lip Duos after seeing the price for the Lip Allure in the Spring collection, and they have both gone up by 6.25%
I’m only just now keeping records of beauty price increases with Chanel. So I will inform ya’ll if I notice the price of anything else raise.
But from what I have noticed is that Chanel beauty typically goes up 3%-7% each year around March. So we may soon notice other beauty items raise in prices as well
Is This Collection Worth It?
I do have to say that I was happily surprised with how much I enjoy using the Eclat de Nuit palette. Especially since I generally prefer more colorful and warm looks.
The versatility of this palette and easy of use means that I can put together a quick eye look without thinking too much about it; prefect for busy moms like me.
I’m also impressed with the formulation updates that Chanel has done with the palette, making it safer for everyone, particularly contact wears.
If this comes back in stock on the Chanel site and you’re looking to splurge and treat yourself a little, then this might be worth it to you.
However, for as nice as this palette is, I’m positive that you can find a just as cohesive smokey eye palette fora faction of the cost.
The other items in this collection are all great basics to own. You definitely don’t need a $40 masccasrca or $35 eyelinner. But these are nice quality and basic make up items that even casual make up wears use frequently, so it makes sense to splurge here if you wish.
Final Thoughts
The Les de Nuit Chanel collection– specifically the Eclat de Nuit Les 4 Ombre palette is wildly popular on socail media and it’s easy for me to see why!
I’m happy that I got my hands on it, and I love how simple this palette is to navigate.
While I can’t say that I commented paying a mark up of 25% for this palette, I do think that if you’re a lux lover and wanting to get a hold of a luxury palette that can take you from day to night, then this one might be for you.
Unsurprisingly, Chanel is raising pricing in their Beauty market.
So far this is looking to be just under 7%
While this is frustrating (these percentages add up when your purchases frequently from Chanel), these prices increases seem to happen every year in the spring.
On a happier note though, the re formulation for the L:es 4 Ombre quads are nice! While I think that they can work it a bit more still, I’m happy with how the shadows preform and even happier that Chanel is now considering eye health with their eye shadows and hope that more brands start to take suit.
