I feel like Chanel has been coming for me personally this year as far as their beauty line goes, but I can’t say that I’m mad at it!

Chanel released their Spring 2024 beauty line on Valentine’s Day online with a total of 12 new pieces for us to enjoy.

Going in, I knew that I wasn’t going to purchase everything, but still ended up purchasing a good amount of this collection. So for todays blog, I want to give y’all a review of this new spring 2024 collection from Chanel–going over how I like the items that I got as well as chat about some of the items that I skipped.

This blog is also currently being updated as my order shipped in two parts! For now, I’ll leave basic information on the items I haven’t received yet and will update the blog as they come in.

As of this posting, the entire collection is still available on the Chanel website. I am unsure if this collection will make it to the department stores like some of the pieces form the Winter Les Beige Collection, but I will try to keep you all posted if they go live outside of Chanel as well.

As always, this review will be split into sections, so feel free to use the table of contents down below to jump around to any section that interest you.

About The Chanel Spring 2024 Line

Evoking Gabriela Chanel’s love for the ocean, this Spring 2024 beauty line plays heavily in hues that reminisce the French Riviera.

Headed up by Valentina Li–one of the 3 new make up designers for Chanel, this new Spring 2024 line comes embossed with beautifully embossed patters on the powder products which remind us of ripples in the ocean.

The entire collection as a whole with azure and coral tones, pearlescent finishes and soft textures brings you back to the waters and gets you excited for the summer days to come

This collection has a lot of color in it. But instead of being loud and bold, these colors translate to looking soft and ethereal on the skin, giving strong mermaid vibes.

What I Got

In total, I pick up 6 items from this collection–the eyeshadows, eyeliner, blush, highlight, and nail polish. I purchased these the day that they came out and has them ship to my home.

I received two items the next day, however, as of this posting, I’m still waiting on the other two items that I bought.

I will update this review as soon as the other items arrive. I just wanted to get the blue of this review out as soon as possible so that it would be of the greatest amount of use for those of you deciding on if you want this collection of not.

Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadows

Shop on Chanel.com

The biggest focal piece to this Spring 2024 collection has got to be the Les 4 Ombres eyeshadows

Being released in 2 shades exclusively for this collection–Rivage and Coral Treasure; these vibrant in pan colors translate into very wearable, soft tones on the skin, which is on brand for Chanel.

Unlike the Dior Backstage Eyeshadows which are very bright and loud on the skin, Chanel eyeshadows in my experience are designed with a more mature audience in mind who prefer softer, more refined beauty looks.

I mention this because if you’re looking for stand out popping shades, then this collection isn’t for you.

However, that doesn’t mean that these eyeshadows gorgeous still!

As mentioned above, this collection plays heavily into the ethereal mermaid vibe, so these have some very beautiful shimmery and pearlescent textures to them, giving off an almost wet look on the eye.

The top left shades in each of these palettes are EVERYTHING in my opinion. They are beautiful as toppers to the rest of the shades or can be used on their own to give you a beautiful shimmery wet look to your eyes.

In the Rivage palette, this shade comes off almost iridescently golden with pink and green reflective shimmers to bring a pop of warmth to an otherwise cool toned color story.

This top left shade in the Coral Treasures palette plays a similar role, but brings a bit of coolness to a warmer toned color story, with reflective blue and purple specks.

Besides these beautifully done topper shades, each palette features both semi matte and satin shades, which I think makes these palettes easier to work with. The colors and textures in each palette play well together, but you can easily create a look just using one or two of these shades as well.

In my experience, Chanel eyeshadows are long lasting and these don’t seem to be any different. The 4 hours in to wearing the Coral Treasure palette with hot flashes and sweat to boot, my make up is still in place so that’s always a plus.

I do want to say, that the initial texture from the Les 4 Ombres pallets feel very dry to me. This is something that I’ve noticed on all of the quads, not just this particular collection. It always leads to me feeling disappointed at first to how they feel when I swatch them. But then the texture after breaking through that first layer feels greats!

I think that these palettes are great for day time looks and I will definitely be wearing these in Cancun and Ko’Olina! That said, well you can get several different looks out of these palettes, at least on my completions, I can’t create anything too dramatic, so these probably wouldn’t be great for any night time looks–at least for me.

If you have recently purchased the Chanel Winter Les Beige collection or were able to get your hands on the Elcat de Nuit palette, then you might find some of these shades to feel somewhat similar. While not the same, the Coral Treasure and Cool palettes almost feel like sisters and the Rivage feels like a lighter version of the Elcat de Nuit palette with blue instead of black.

If you get each of these palettes, I think you’ll easily be able to make them all work for you. But if you’re working on cutting back and don’t want things that are too similar, then this might be something you want to take into consideration.

Powder Blush Duo

Chanel also released a beautiful two toned blush in Roses Coquillage as part of this Spring 2024 beauty collection.

The color selection of this blush is reminiscent of the coral of the oceans, while the double “C” encased in circles creates the image of a stone skipping across the water.

This is not a bad blush. But I do wish that I would have skipped this one.

Foremost, this blush has a matte formula, which isn’t my favorite as it can look drying on my cheeks.

I will say that despite this formula being matte, it looked great and lasted very well for a few hours. But I feel like that has more to do with the blush sinking into my foundation a little bit, as the blush looked very dry on my bare skin.

But for an ocean inspired, spring/summer collection, I feel like the vibe should be luminous, not powdery.

I feel like maybe they went in this direction because of the Les Beige collection they released in December which also featured silky luminous blushes and pretty much identical colors here.

Because this blush is pretty much just the Corail Givre and Mauve Glace blushes from the Les Beige Collection combined into one pot, you can easily skip this one if you own these shades.

I would also probably suggest that you skip this one if you have drier skin or just don’t like matte blushes because this one is REALLY matte.

But, if you do like matte blushes and were debating between the two shades in the Winter Les Beige collection, then this could be a good option for you.

And just a quick little last note on this blush, while this isn’t an important point at all, the half moon travel brush that comes with this blush feels cheap compared the the brushes that come with the blushes from the Winter glow collection just a month ago, which is very disappointing.

Illuminating Powder

Shop on Chanel.com

The Lumiere de L’Ocean illuminating powder from the Spring 2024 collection called to me so strong ya’ll! I’m a sucker for anything that glistens and this illuminating powder does just that.

This multipurpose highlighter is a sheer pearlescent shade with an iridescent shimmery finish that shifts blue to evoke the bioluminescence of the sea.

Continuing with the ripples in the water motif, this powder features the double “C” prominent in the center of the palette. The “C”‘s are made from this ripple patter as well, but they aren’t even– looking almost like rain drops creating this ripples on this palette.

The formula of this is silky smooth and the sparkers that it leaves behind almost look as if they are emanating from within your skin, adding to the ethereal mermaid feel of this collection.

The Lumiere de L’Ocean is just one of those beautiful make up collectors pieces that can elevate any make up look.

That said, this illuminating powder is very similar to the highlighter Chanel released for their Holiday collection and to Fenty’s Diamond Bomb highlighting powder.

The main difference being that these two other highlighting powders read more warm on the skin, whereas Lumiere de L’Ocean is a lot more cool on the skin. However all 3 highlighting products are very luminescent on the skin and leave an almost wet look behind.

While this powder didn’t bring anything too new to my collection, it is very beautiful and if you’re looking to splurge on a highlighter and have a little piece of Chanel luxury, then I think you’ll find this worth it.

Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner

Shop Chanel.com

As I mentioned above, my order shipped in two pieces and the Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner is one of the items that I’m still waiting on.

That said, I’m a big fan of the Stylo Yeux eyeliners and can tell you right now that I love these!

I’m 90% sure that the shade “Blue Abyss” is a standard shade in the Stylo Yeux collection.

I noticed this also with a few other beauty collections with Chanel, but they will typically highlight or repacking an eyeliner that they already have in rotation. I personally don’t mind this, as I’m over everything being limited edition anyways.

What I really like about these eyeliners is how smooth they guild across the skin. With my skin being super sensitive right now due to cancer treatments, especially around the eyes, having a pencil and guides across my lids instead of tugging at them is a dream.

I also love the wide range of colors that are offered with their eyeliners. With 19 total shades ranging from subdued to bold, these eyeliners can really make your eye look pop.

For me, the main draw back with these liners is some shades seem to be more long wearing than others in the waterline. So we’ll test out how long wearing Blue Abyss is when it arrivers.

The other drawback for me is that these are expensive for eyeliners. By comparison, Urban Decay makes an AMAZING eyeliner in a tone of colors that is just as smooth for nearly 50% less. So its difficult for me to suggest this liners as a must have from Chanel.

But, if your heart is set on Chanel, or if you would like to purchase at a lower entry point, then this isn’t a bad option.

Le Vernis

Shop Chanel.com

We chatted about the Le Vernis nail polishes over on the Winter Glow article, and I’m working on a Chanel nail polish overview in general.

That said, when I saw this Le Vernis in Lagune color, it just felt like it had my name all over it!

Chanel won’t ship nail polishes overnight, so I’m still waiting to see what this one is like in person. However, from the photos, I’m in love with the royal ocean blue base color and the reflective shimmer of the nails.

I love adding a light base of chrome or a shimmery top coat to my nails, and it looks like this polish might have that built in which I’m excited about.

I decided to skip on the shade “Sun Drop” as I have a shade alright hat is very similar to this one already. That said, it’s a very gorgeous color that I wear a lot in the warmer month.

Thes are very expensive for nail polishes however. As I have said in a few post now, there are plenty of good drugstore brand nail polishes that you can buy and get similar results. You definitely don’t need to pay Chanel prices to get a solid nail colors.

But I do like the color selection that Chanel offers and since I do my nails at home anyways, splurging on a bottle is actually less than going to the salon to get them done.

What I skipped

While I purchased about half of this collection, I skipped the other half.

For me, these are the weaker items in this collection that don’t have the same draw as the above products do. This doesn’t necessarily mean that these products are terrible. They just don’t interest me personally.

Baume Essentiel

Shop Chanel.com

While I’m not going to go back and purchase this, I do wish I had gotten this Baume Essential in Mermaid over the Roses Coquillage duo blush.

I actually love the Baume Essential, and I’m finding more use for it over time, especially now that my skin is a lot drier.

I like layering it over foundation and under blush to give my skin a nice natural glow and some added dimension.

And when applied with the fingertips, it doesn’t feel all that greasy on the skin either.

However, I skipped out on this one because I already have a Baume Essential that I picked up from last years Spring collection that looks very similar.

And I just don’t think I use this product enough to justify having two that look the same.

Rouge Coco Baume

Shop at Chanel.com

Chanel launched two Coco Baumes with this collection in Anemone and Coralline.

These are beautiful coral tone shades that I think color wises pairs well with this collection.

But I just normally don’t like the Coco Baumes that much.

I did end up picking one up with the Winter Healthy Glow Collection. I’ve been using it and I will continue to use it. But in generally, I find most the Rouge Coco Baume uninspiring and for the price, I much rather pick up one of these baumes from YSL Beauty.

Rouge Allure Laque

Shop Chanel.com

The Rouge Allures Laque is a product I haven’t actually tried yet.

I keep saying that I’m going to, as it is marketed as a long wear lipstick, and I love a long wear lipstick!

However, these are the same price as the Chanel Lip Duos which are amazing in my opinion. I have reviewed this product in depth so you can click the link above to read up more about it.

That said, while these were a skip for me, I have heard nothing about great things about this product, so I don’t think it would hurt to try if you were interested.

Final Thoughts

As an art story, this collection brings us in to the ocean to experience it in a multitude of ways.

From the sand, to the waters to the coral and bioluminescent creatures that live in it, this collection feels like it tells a complete story.

Seeing a collection be so cohesive is always very exciting for me as a lover of art and stories.

This collection however isn’t very innovative.

It is easy to see where Chanel has pulled from their own archives–and they didn’t even have to go back that far.

I don’t particularly mind because this collection is beautiful and works very well together, thought it would have been nice to see them play just a little less safe with this one.

Still, this feels ethereal and very much mermaid-y so I’m a happy lady!

Because this collection isn’t very innovative, I feel like many people will be able to find similar colors in the collections that they already have– both from and outside of the brand.

I feel like this collection is best for those who want to give the gift of luxury to a beauty lover.

After all, not many are going to complain about receiving a beautiful sparkly highlighter from Chanel–even if they already have 3 others.

Of course, this collection is also going to be great for the Chanel enthusiasts. While not innovative, its always exciting to see bright fun colors in a pan from this brand (even if they don’t translate that way).

I don’t think this collection offers much in the way for the casual make up shopper. While all these products are certainly beautiful, you could build this collection with a high end brand from Sephora or Ulta for a lot less.

There is no need to pay these prices if you’re just going to wear make up causally (unless you’re picking up as a gift for yourself).

All and all I think this collection is beautiful and I’m excited to play around more in it! Did you pick up anything from the Chanel Spring 2024 beauty collection? I would love to hear your opinions on it.
