One thing you all should know about me is that I’m a sustainability queen.

Curating an eco friendly closet that is as fashionable as it Earth friendly is important to me.

I’m also someone who just can’t help but to find a great deal on beautiful and unique pieces.

So thrifting and consignment shopping have kinda been my things for a long while now.

I’m proud to say that most of my accessories and probably around 30% of my closet are now made up from second hand items and I’m excited to continue this trend!

one of the questions I get asked a lot though is ” How do you put together outfits that are coming from so many different sources?”

I completely understand this question because there is so much to choose from when thrifting.

So I’m starting this new segment on my blog where I highlight parts of my thrifted collection, why I chose them and how you can get your hands on something similar.

In this particular blog, I traveled to Seattle for Fashion In Flight, so these are the outfits I put together for the weekend.

Travel Fit– Lululemon, Max Mara, Nike

Monnii with curly hair wearing a camel coat and a green hoodie, posing outdoors in a park-like setting with greenery and city buildings in the background.

I travel a lot a lot, and I want to be as comfortable as I can when I do so.

There are a lot of leisure wear brands that I really enjoy wearing, but I have to say that I love Lululemon.

Besides taking pride that this is a PNW company (love me some Vancouver, BC!) I love the fact that they have built in seconds hand shopping experience.

US shoppers can go to Lululemon Like-New to buy gently worn and off made active wear items for a great price, even when comparing to their competitors.

For this trip, I paired this green peek-a-boo sucba hoodie with a pair of their leggings.

I have talked at length about Lululemon’s Like New program in this blog post here if you want to learn more.

The camel Max Mara jacket is one that I have feature on this blog before that you can check out here.

But I have been obsessed with this jacket since I’ve gotten it!

Even second hand, Max Mara will be an investment in your closet. But good outerwear is a treasure that can last generations if kept up right.

What I love most about this jacket is how the alpaca wool keeps you so warm against the chilly PNW winds. This is truly a jacket I can take with me fall-spring.

I got mine through the eBay Authentication program, but you can also find these floating around used on the RealReal.

Lastly, I just wanted to chat about these Nike Dunks right quick because I fell in love so quick with these!

I was browsing a local consignment shop when these caught my eye. I originally passed on them because they are a size too big.

But I couldn’t get them out of my mind! So I doubled back and figured out how to make them work.

I’m glad I did because this color way wasn’t the easiest to find!

For those who are interested, the color is ‘Olive Oil’ and of course, I found some options for you down below.

Night Out In The City

the fashionably dressed Monnii poses on a city sidewalk, wearing a black dress and a pink striped Burberry wrap. They are holding a small Pochette Accessories and wearing black Saint Laurent Opium heels , surrounded by autumn foliage.

Did I have a night out on the town this trip? No. But did I still pack for it just in case? of course I did!

New in to me is this black Zimmerman cocktail dress. I absolutely love the bubbling at the bottom of the skirt, the asymmetrical cut and the matte silk texture on this.

Similar Zimmerman dresses retail between $800-$1700 USD, But I got mine for $70 on ThredUp.

I have written a few articles on ThredUp (start with this one here if you want to learn more about the company) but they really can be a great resource for those who want to thrift a luxury closet.

I was able to find this exact dress and similar ones, all for a great price on the RealReal in case you’re interest, listed down below.

I do want to get into these pumps and cape that I’m wearing in this outfit as well.

These are some pieces that I’ve had in my closet now for a few years. I honestly feel like the best thing you can do sustainably for fashion is buy items you plan on keeping for a long time! And both of these thrifted items are pieces I hope to pass on to my kiddos one day.

Starting with the Burberry cape, I purchased this off of Fashionphile.

Just like the Max Mara coat, this will keep you warm! I have such sweet memories of Franklin wrapping himself up in this when we would go up to Leavenworth for the Holidays and my daughter loves being in this one too.

The Saint Laurent Opium heels I always get questions about–mainly asking if they kill my feet.

The answer is no, the pumps feel WAY better than the straps lol

I bought these off of Poshmark using their authentication service. Anything bought on Poshmak over $500 goes through an automatic authentication process to help limit people getting scammed.

Honestly, if you see a luxury piece that you like on Poshmark selling at just below the $500 mark, go head and offer up the difference as insurance. It will be worth the piece of mine for authentication is important to you.

Most of my accessories here were thrifted as well! If you want to read about my Van Cleef pieces, you can do so here

I don’t think I have gotten around to chatting about the Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette Accessories on this blog yet, but I thrifted this one from Rebag.

Getting something from the Tahitienne collection is something I had dreamed of for YEARS but buying it– even second hand wasn’t in the budget for me until the past couple of years.

Nowadays you can find a lot of pieces from this collection for under the $500 mark. so if you wanted to get into the Louis Vuitton pre loved market, now might be your chance.

If you’re looking for some options, I have some linked below.

Fashion Girly

A woman stands confidently on a city sidewalk, wearing a stylish camel coat over a light-colored top and a cream skirt. She has on tall black boots and holds her phone in one hand. The backdrop features buildings and trees with autumn leaves.

There is something so chic and sporty about this look that I think is prefect for time with the girls!

Of course, I’m wearing my favorite Max Mara Jacket again. I really just can’t get over this color! I’m going to need 14 more of them right now.

But these boots have been a long standing staple in my closet as well now.

These actually came in the day after I found out I had breast cancer so they are a bit of a sentimental piece for me.

In stores Saint Laurent boots like these would retail for about $1800 to $4000 depending on the style.

I got mine from Fashionphile for around $250 in like new condition with the full set–so literally a fraction of the price.

A pair of stylish black high-heeled boots with a sleek design and tall shaft.
A stylish black knee-high leather boot with a chunky heel and gold detailing.
A stylish black over-the-knee boot with a pointed toe and a stiletto heel, made from soft leather.

My bodysuit isn’t thrifted, but can we talk about holding on to quality made fast-fashion pieces for long periods of time? This top is from Forever21 bought back in 2020 and she’s still on rotation.

The skirt however is thrifted from the same local consignment shop I got my Nike’s from.

I have been living for the ultra mini skirt trend this fall. This skirt features a fun foliage like print with neutral tones that are prefect for fall.

I have down my best to link some thrifted options down below that are close to this look for you.

Final Thoughts

I love how these outfits came out.

I feel that I was able to put together styles that are representative of me in a very well rounded way while not compromising on my eco friendly values or my budget.

While I hate what the current economy is doing to a lot of families bottom dollar, I am excited that more lovely fashionistas are getting creative and jumping into thrifting at least parts of their wardrobe.

I would love to know your thoughts on what I put together. Let me know if you shopped anything from this look book post down below and come join our community over on Instagram.

Until next time my friends!
