In that blog, I had had my bag for a few months and I was absolutely in love with it. I think I wore it for 5 months straight.
As a mom of 3 under 3 at the time, I remember loving how easy this bag could be. And I loved that I was very causal.
But I also remember be very glad that I purchased this one preloved. Back in 2020, this style was very popular, so to get a bit of a discount on a bag that was practically new was exciting.
Well, it’s been about 5 years now since I originally wrote that blog and I felt like now was a great time for an update.
So today, I will be sharing with you my 4 year update on the Gucci Marmount Super Mini, and why I think this is a bag you should consider in 2025.

How often do I use it
I wanted to start off with the frequency in which I reach for this bag, as /I feel like that is probably the biggest metric in if a bag is worth having in your wardrobe.
On average, I’m reaching for this bag about 3-4 times a year.
That’s not a lot.
However, as a fashion and style blogger, I have a lot of accessories that I need to cycle through. So with over 45 bags in my collection, reaching for a bag once a quarter isn’t great, but it’s definitely not bad either.
I typically reach for this bag for date nights, or for travel, as I feel like this is where bags like this can really shine.
You can read this blog here to see what I typically carry in it, but because it sits so close to the body and fits just what you need, it makes a good choice for more active days.
If you’re someone with a small collection who prefers smaller bags like myself, then you’ll probably reach for this bag much more frequently than I do.
All and all though, this bag is still in my roation getting use 5 years later.

How the bag has held up
The bag has held up very well.
Part of this is because it’s only getting used a few times a year. But the other part of this is that the calfskin used to make this bag was great quality.
I can’t vouch for the bags made after 2021 ( and I’ll talk about this in a little bit) but the older models of the Gucci Marmont Super Mini were very well crafted.
This is a bag that I have taken with me biking a few times, camping and stuffed into my luggage. And it’s not worse for wear from any of that.
One thing that I really do appreciate is how the treated calfskin is easy to clean.
I like to wipe my bags down with a wet wipe like this after each use to make sure that no dirt and grim start to stick to it.
My bag was quality made, however I have noticed that some of the newer bags seems to have some defects.
While I was in Hawaii last year, I stopped by one of the Gucci stores where they had some of the irridecednt Super Minis.
I was ready to purchase the one in green, then I noticed that all the “GG”‘s were off center or tilted.
Looking at some of the product offering on Fashionphile, I can see that some of the Gucci Marmont Super Minis on their site also have tilted “GG’s.
I’m unsure if this is factory or user error; however, it is something that I would be sure to inspect before making the purchase.
Preferred way to wear
This bag can be worn crossbody or doubled up to wear under the shoulder, but my favorite way to where this bag is as a waist belt.
As a mom of three, I often find myself needing to be hands free.
I love how stylish the bag looks this way. It adds a sporty chic element to whatever you’re wearing.
I also enjoy the practicality of wearing the bag like this. There is no fussing over straps and maneuvering to reach things. I simple just open and pull from my hip, which is amazing when traveling with kids.
It also feels a bit more secure. Because it’s super close to my body, it’s not easy for someone to mess with it without my knowing.
Converting this bag into a waist is easy and best of all, free. The bag comes with 3 D rings and a clip. I just pull the chain through the two D rings at the top, wrap it around my waist and then secure it through the last ring on the side.
Why you should buy this bag in 2025 pre-loved
I don’t think the Gucci Marmont is a bag ment for everyone. In fact, after owning this bag for many years, I feel like there are a lot of people who shouldn’t buy this bag.
This is also a bag that I recommend that you buy pre-loved.
Sustainability aside, the Gucci Marmont stopped holding its value back around 2021.
While priced at $1,400.00USD in boutique, you can buy this bag in excellent condition for just under $1,000 on Fashionphile, and for around $750.00-$900.00USH on Poshmark.
It makes little sense to recommend buying this bag new when you can buy in excellent condition for nearly 50% less.
With all that in mind, this bag will be prefect for some folks, so here’s who I think should have the Gucci Marmont Super Mini on their radar in 2025.
If you’re someone looking for a little luxury treat that won’t break your budget, I think that this is a great option.
For the most part, these bags are well constructed and most of them are fully leather on the outside. This bag also feels very luxe, even compared to some Louis Vuittion and Chanel options. And it’s coming in for a lot less.
If you can find one that is used, that’s not wonky and coming in under $800.00 USD, then you should grab it up.
I also think that bag could be a great option for someone who wants to add a bit of color to their wardrobe.
I’ll be the first one to tell you that you don’t need luxury in your wardrobe. Contemporary brands like Coach (read this Coach vs Chanel comparison) and Kate Spade make wonderful quality and very colorful items for a fraction of the price.
However, if your mind is set on luxury, the Gucci Marmont Super Mini is a great option to get a pop of color.
Lastly, I feel like this could be a great starter bag, especially for young fashionistas.
Because this bag can be very versatile and is great for casual or more formal occasion, you’re likely to get a lot of use out of it if it’s one of a few bags you own.
For my younger fashion lovers, paying $550.00-$750.00 USD is still a tall ask. But it’s much more obtainable than the nearly $3,000.USD+ most Chanel WOCS are going for nowadays.

Final Thoughts
The Gucci Marmont Super Mini is a simply constructed, easy to use handbag that still has some relevance nearly a decade after its initial release.
While I can’t recumbent buying this bag new in stores, this bag is easy enough to find pre loved and a great price.
And with the price of Chanel and even some Louis Vuitton peices skyrocketing in recent years, there is a place for gucci, as it brings some affordability to ultra luxury.
