What is the Chanel Les Beiges Collection?

With blogs like this, I find it best to start with a quick overview of what the Les Beige collection is from Chanel Beauty.
Just like the main line of the House, Chanel Beauty drops several collections a year for us to enjoy. The number of drops can fluctuate, however, there are a few staple collections that we can look forward to and the Les Beiges collection is one of those.
Crafted by Peter Phillips in the summer of 2013, the Les Beiges collection pays tribute to Coco Chanel’s days on the French Rivera.
Meant to invoke the feeling of the vacation sun, the Les Beiges collection offers fresh, natural, bronzey make up that leaves your skin looking sun kissed from a day at the beach.
For over 10 years now, the Les Beiges collection is one of Chanel’s most popular beauty launches with many watching to see what they will drop.
We got a wonderful surprise with the winter Les Beiges collection that you can read about here.
This summer, while we really didn’t get many products, we did get an exciting launch!

Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder
For me, the Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder is the most exciting product in this collection as it is the only new release, but oh is it a fun one!
The Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder is an over-sized trio bronzing powder with shades that can be blended together or worn separately.
There is nothing really ground breaking about an oversized trio bronzer in and of itself, as the drug store has product like this all the time and Chanel in years past has had trio bronzers in the Les Beige collection (although they were much smaller).

But its still and exciting product to see and it looks like it will be a staple product that will stick around for a while–which is also nice to see, seeing that so many of their drops nowadays are limited edition.
There are 5 palettes over all with each palette consisting of a light, medium and dark shade.
This powder claims to give your skin a healthy looking glow lasting upwards of 8 hours (as tested with their 20 clinical participants).
I ended up purchasing 2 of these powders in Deep Rose Gold and Deep Mauve and the first thing that I want to note here is that they’re two deep shades in this range.

While there is always room for improvement when it comes to inclusion, its so exciting that there is more than one option for girls with deeper complexions here.
When you open the palette, you are immediately greeted with the signature Chanel camellia scent and it’s very strong.
I was actually surprised with how strong the scent was–and even with the fact that it was there at all as Chanel in previous launches has seemed to be moving away from scented products.
This personally isn’t a huge deal for me (I’m a fan of the scent), however if you are sensitive to scents, then this may be a powder you want to skip.
Now I have had about a month to play around with these powders and let me tell you that they are BEAUTIFUL!
The glow from these looks internal and it really does look like you’ve just spent the day enjoying the sun.

The golden top shade from the Deep Rose Gold palette is a beautiful, very natural looking highlighter shade for me that can be buildable if you want more drama.
While the bottom shade of this palette as well as the top shade from the Deep Mauve palette make wonderful coral tone blushes with all the beauty vibes. The bottom shade from the Deep Mauve palette is a bit more berry tone, but a shade that is still very wearable for the summer.
the middle shades of the palettes are the deepest and I like to use them to sculpt out my face a bit (Deep Mauve) or warm my skin up over all (Deep Rose Gold).
I have done a severe wear test with the Chanel Healthy Glow Sun-kissed palette and each time, I’ve gotten at least 6 hours of decent wear with this formula with most days being able to make it at least 8 hours (days were I was sweating a little it didn’t last as long).
While the Light Coral shade of this is currently sold out, the other 4 shades including Deep Rose Gold and Deep Mauve are still in stock on the site at the time of this posting.

Health Glow Sheer Powder
The Healthy Glow Sheer Powder has been a Chanel staple for years being released in 2013 as well, quickly becoming a part of Chanel’s permanent collection.
While I have had this product in my collection since forever, I ended up picking up a refill in the shade B 121 with golden undertones since I was just about out of my old one.
The Healthy Glow Sheer Powder is a lightweight, ‘buildable’ powder that is meant to help blur away imperfections while offering a slight glow to the skin thanks to its use of photo adaptive pigments.
It claims to give you a second skin satin finish without creasing (which is important for those of us with drier, more mature skin).
Chanel also claims that the Healthy Glow Sheer Powder has some protective properties as well with its use of jasmine flower oils.

They state that the oil helps to preserve the skin barrier and can help protect against free radicals and pollution which can damage the skin.
These later claims are pretty bold with nothing to really back that up that I can find, so I wouldn’t bank on this product as being any sort of skin protection.
However, I have used this powder off and on for years and that’s because I do enjoy it.
I generally use this powder as a light finishing powder, on it’s own for light no make-up make up days or for touch ups on the go.
The formula is very soft and does feel slightly moisturizing, thanks impart to its use of triheptanoin, which is used in skincare formulations to help make products more spreadably and smooth.
While you can build this product up some, I wouldn’t call it buildable as it will always give you a very light coverage. This product isn’t designed to cover anything up; rather it is designed to make your natural skin look radiant.

The biggest excitement for me about the inclusion of the Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in this years Les Beiges collection is that they have continued to extend their shade range.
When I first started purchasing the Healthy Glow Sheer Powder from Chanel years ago, the darkest shade was B 70. and while this shade worked ok for me since its so sheer, I felt like I could be better severed with a deeper shade.
Now the range includes 14 shades with 2 more deeper tones added, for a total of 5 being Black girl friendly. And as a Black girl, these steps towards inclusion are really exciting for me.
I do wish that toward the deeper end of the range, they included some products with golden undertones, but overall I think this is a great move in the right direction.

Healthy Glow Foundation | Hydration and Long
wear
A bit newer to the Chanel permeant line than the Healthy Glow Sheer Powder is the Healthy Glow Foundation, Hydration and Long wear formula.
Re-relased in 2021, this product has a lot of fans.
With light to medium coverage, this Healthy Glow Foundation formula is said to feel weightless, look silky smooth, last up to 12 hours with wear and of course has the hallmark natural luminosity that comes with products in the Les Beiges line.
Chanel claims that this Healthy Glow Foundation formula will improve and smooth the look of your skin with their use of photo adaptive pigments as well as also protect your skin from blue light damage, free radicals and pollution.
They also claim that with this formations high water content, that many will perceive moisturizing and hydrating benefits to their skin with immediate use and upward to 12 hours after use.
While Chanel actually did conduct a clinical study on this, they only studied 21 women and who knows what their selection processes and demographics were like so I can’t hold too much stock in a lot of these claims based just on that.
However this formula is jammed packed with compounds clinically proven to provide major skin benefits including; conditioning, hydrating and protecting against UV damage.

All of this does make the product alluring especially for the summer.
While I have been tempted to purchase this foundation for a while now, I still haven’t made this plunge, as I already own the Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint and Complexion Touch–both beautiful formulas in their own rights.
At the moment, I have more than enough foundations and I don’t think I really need any more in my collection.
I have tried this product on at a counter however and I will say that it did feel very light and cool to my skin and blended in beautifully. I would say that the coverage was more on the light sized for me, but it did make my skin look pretty even with a bit of luminously.
For me, the biggest issue was that there wasn’t a great shade match for me at the time when I originally tried this product.
However, with this new Les Beiges collection, Chanel has extended the Healthy Glow Foundation range to included 42 shades.
I don’t need any new foundations, but I’m VERY tempted to pick up this shade in B 130 or B132.
Price & price increases

Let’s chat about prices now, because I do think this is a huge factor to consider when deciding whether or not you want to make a purchase.
Chanel is a luxury brand, so we should expect to pay above average for comparable products.
Also, many aren’t aware, but just like the rest of the Maison, Chanel Beauty also experiences price increases, so where I can, I will also share how much the product went up by.
Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder

The Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder retails for $95.00 USD each.
This is VERY expensive for a luxury bronzer and the most expensive one that I personally own.
This is an over-sized product for Chanel and you are getting 0.53oz of powder product, which is going to have a longer shelf life than a cream product.
The Chanel oversized highlighters form Holiday 2023 where also retailing for $95.00 USD for a similar amount of product.
However just the year prior in 2022, I believe the oversized products were selling for $85.00 USD. If my memory is serving me correct, this is a $10.00 USD increase.
As I mentioned before, while I’m very excited about the Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder, it is in no way a ground breaking product, and you can find similar bronzing trio’s for a fraction of the price.
Healthy Glow Sheer Powder

The Healthy Glow Sheer Powder retails for $60.00 USD if you are buying the whole component or $45.00 USD if you are purchasing a refill. At this price you are receiving 0.42 oz of product.
I love the concept of refillable make up as (in theory) it is generally more sustainable and it can save the consumer some coins.
I remember paying around $55.00 USD when I first purchased this product back in 2017 so the price hasn’t gone up by too much over time.
While this price is comparable to other luxury beauty brands, you can get a lot more for your money by just switching to another brand.
I will leave some options linked below of comparable products from other brands.
Healthy Glow Foundation | Hydration and Long wear

The Healthy Glow Foundation retails for $65.00 USD for 1fl/oz worth of product.
While this is in the upper range of prices for a good foundation, it is fairly priced for what you are getting.
When this foundation was originally released it retailed for $60.00 USD so that is an increase of about $5.00 USD which isn’t bad.
I’m not familiar enough with this foundation to offer to many comparable options for you all, however just looking at the formulas it seems like the Supergroup! Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint may be a close comparison and I LOVE this product especially for the summer time!
And seeing that it’s $25.00 USD less, this may be something worth checking out.
Final Thoughts
The Chanel Les Beiges collection is a summer staple for many in the luxury beauty world.
The 2024 collection may not have offered a lot in the way of new or innovative but the expansion of shade ranges is something to be celebrated.
They’re are beauty lovers of all skin tones so having a market that reflects that is always a step in the right direction.
Of course, the Healthy Glow Sun-kissed Powder is the stand out in the collection for me. Besides being the only new product in the collection, I love how versatile this product this and the beautiful glow each hue leaves on my skin. While I do this isis way over priced for what it is, it is something I can see Chanel beauty lovers and collectors gravitating towards.
Even more, I love the fact that this product seems like it will remain as a part of Chanel’s permanent collection.
But what are your thoughts on this new collection? I would love to hear what you think either down below or over on Instagram! Also don’t forget to join us over on Youtube!
Love,
Monnii Bee
