This holiday season, I wanted to continue to curate my closet with consigned and thrifted fashion in an effort to be more sustainable while also maintaining my own sense of style.
In 2025 I made a big push to buy most of my clothing second hand and I’m so happy I stuck with it. My closet looks like a treasure chest of vintage and couture pieces and it always feels like I’m walking into my own personal store.
To close 2025 out, I did get a few new pieces in that I wanted to share with you all.
In this blog, I will walk through how I styled these items while also talking about how I shop for and find the best thrifted looks.

Declutter with Trashies
As a fashion and style blogger, I have gone through a lot of clothing.
While I do my best to be more selective about what I buy and what I accept for review, I still have way more clothing than the average person.
As someone who cares about sustainability, I’m thankful that a company like Trashies exists.
Trashies allows me to package up my used clothing and textiles and send them off to have a new life.
The truth of the matter is, more than 80% of the clothing we donate to thrift stores will end up in the landfill.
There is just so much consumption that there is no place for it to go.
Trashies helps to break that cycle but accepting textlies in all state of wear and tear.
Clothing in good condition will be sold, while items that have seen better days will be repurposed or recycled.
Only a small percentage of what they receive will end up in the landfill, greatly reducing the amount of waste fashion can cause.
If you’re in need of a closet clean out ( like I always am) consider using my link down below to get your Trashies bags sent directly to your house today.
Zimmerman Holiday Party Look
I’m so excited to showcase this look as I have fallen in love with Zimmerman over the past few years.
This particular style features a delicate lace top with a satin bust and bow, contrasted by an attached whimsically structured mini skirt.
While I typically look for more bling in my holiday looks, this outfit is just so playful and bouncy that It feels very holiday to me.
I was surprised that I liked the high neckline. With a bigger chest, high necklines normally exgarate it in an ackward way and it leaves me feeling very uncomfortable. But I think the false stain sweetheart neckline flatten things out in a way that was more flattering to my body.
The ruffles in the skirt was also a stand out moment for me in this dress.
While the skirt is very short, the ruffles are so big that I feel pretty covered when I wear it. and while the skirt is structured, it’s easy enough to sit down in.
I only have a few holiday parties/gala’s I’m attending this season but I’m defiantly looking for ways to interrogate this dress into my rotation more.

What to consider when thrifting for a holiday party
If you’re in the market to thrift your own holiday outfit, I would suggest by starting with a color or style in mind.
Reds, greens, blues and golds are great colors for the holidays.
Also consider your undertones and color seasons if you know them. If you don’t know yours, check out my newsletter post here.
I’m a clear spring/ ture autumn, so I look best in warmer colors.
Next, consider the style and shape you feel best suits you. With an more hourglass shape mixed with a shorter torso, I know that I prefer shorter skirts that elongate my legs and sweetheart necklines.

Once you have a good idea of what you’re looking for, you’re ready to start hunting down your party dress!
Nowadays, I prefer to do most of my thrifting on sites like ThredUp.
They have amazing AI tools that can shift through thousands of styles in just a few minutes. You can even import images or Pinterest links to find similar styles.
I used ThredUp as a stating point and found this style. Then I compared other sites to see if they had the same dress and found it cheaper on The RealReal.
Relaxed Daytime Mom Style
I’ve been loving exploring luxury styles with this platform over the past few years, but I originally started off this blog looking at styles that were relatable to moms.
This latest find here blends these two realities for me.
As a homeschool mom I live for a good solid cardigan, especially during the holidays where we’re constantly on the go and I need something that I can move in.
This long button up cardigan from Dolce and Gabbana is a prefect cold weather staple for me.
It is so easy to wear and pairs well with jeans, leggings or skirts. If you’re looking to build a mommy uniform, having something like this in your closet is a must.
I ended up pairing it with these Sofia jeans that I had in my closet and this beautiful vintage fur hat that I found on eBay.

What to consider when thrifting mom friendly styles.
When thrifting mom friendly styles for the holidays, consider the materials.
Quality will always beat quantity and I feel like thrifting is a great opportunity to introduce high value pieces into your wardrobe at more affordable prices.
When thrifting, try to find natural fibers that are going to hold up better in the long term.
This D&G cardigan is made of wool making it a warm and durable choice.
Looking for versatile peices is also a good practice while thrifting. A piece like this can easily transition from winter to spring, and come out again in fall, being useful almost year around!
Couture Night Out Look
For the moments when you want to feel a bit more elevated while still out on the town this holiday season, thrifting is the prefect option.
I found this Chanel skirt on ThredUp that I instally feel in love with. I love how they played with the lace here, giving a tight pencil skirt lots of movement.
I paired it with a cute mesh corset from D&G that I also found on ThredUp.
While I typically like having a bit more color in my looks, I REALLY like how these two pair together!
Is this a bit much to wear to a holiday themed dive bar? Absolutely. But am I going to do it?
Absolutely.

What to consider when thrifting girl’s night out styles
One of the biggest things to consider when thrifting–especially online, is that people missable things and sizes all the time.
If you’re shopping for an event be sure to shop ahead of time.
While I clearly enjoy TheRealReal and ThredUp, there have been multiple times where I have ordered something labeled on line as one size but in reality, they would be smaller or bigger than expected.
If you’re ordering for an event, you need to leave yourself time for returns and shopping again.

A long with this, it’s important to know what the return policy is.
Especially online some of the return policies can be a bit convoluted so be sure to know what you’re getting yourself into.
Read EVERYTHING and take screenshots of the original listing just in case.
A lot of times if you have proof that a product was clearly mislabeled, you’ll be able to return or exchange the item without having to pay for additional shipping or a restocking fee.
Final Thoughts
I love thrifting because it forces me to be creative with my styling choices.
It can be challenging at times because you can’t always see the full picture of what you want to set together at first, but that part of the fun for me.
Lately I’ve been focusing on designer and luxury thrifting, mainly because I run a luxury media platform. But I really want to make clear that you can thrift so many great fashion staples beyond designer and luxury.
The most important part of fashion and styling is that you feel comfortable and confident–regardless of who or what you’re wearing.
